Week 7 Day 1- Orakei Marae
On Monday all of year 5 classes went to Orakei Marae to learn about the culture of the Maori and the girls learnt a simplePoi Danceand the boys learnt aHaka. Firstly the people welcomed us to the Marae with a song, then we sang a welcome song back. The song that we sung is calledE Toru Nga Mea .After that we split up into two groups the boy group and the girl group. When I entered the room I first noticed the carvings on the wall(down below),all the carvings represented something very important. When we finished learning the Poi Dance and Haka we all went to have a break. Then we went to the gathering hall. Here is a video of my friend doing back up for the other Poi Dance
The year 5's had a great time there and we learnt alot about the Maori culture.
Bye hope you liked it, if you did then come back to read more about EOTC
Week 7-Orienteering On Tuesday half of room 9 went toTree Adventuresand the other half didOrienteering. I went to do Orienteering, it was quite tiering but a bit fun. Well let me tell you the whole story. On Tuesday half of room 9 went to do Orienteering I had to do Orienteering. Firstly we went to the Waitarua Reserve it took us about 5 minutes to get to Waitarua Reserve, you might be thinking wow that takes long on a bus, but no we had to go green we had to walk to Waiturua Reserve, also it is good excersise. When we arrived we walked to the park to have our morning tea and a little play. When we finished we got into our group, then we went to a place where we got our maps and a strip of paper. My group had course 3 it wasn't easy but it was a little fun but we found the heat challenging though the rest is well, though... when we finished course 3 we had a tiny break then we had to do another course. We did course 4 when we found out we were like OMG another, first one was tiering and now we are going to get tired AGAIN!!!!! But we had to go for it so we did. When we found out is was lunch time in the middle of course 4 we were like RUN RUN we have to go for lunch so we all were running as fast as we could because we were the only group still doing our course. When we got to the meeting place we all went straight for our drink. I was like FINALLY water, yes. then we got to play again but this time longer. After all that we had to walk back to school I was like serious come on! But at least that was all over. Phew. So when ever you go Orienteering remember you might want to bring two bottles of water. If you liked the second part of EOTC week that come back again to read about the funnest EOTC week.
Week 7 Tree Adventures
On Wednesday half of room 9 went to... well you already know what happened, but this time I went to Tree Adventures. It all started on Wednesday. We first got onto the bus, it was quite long so me and Anya sang songs. When we arrived we had to sit down. Then we had a talk, it was sooo long I started to get pins and needles, well that isn't the point here. So where was I oh yeah, but luckily we got to go. First we needed to put on our harnesses. Then we went through a practice course. There were 3 clips there were 2 of the same ones and another to use on the flying fox. When we clip both of the clips together the bottom one is called the Lazy One. Finally we got to go onto the real courses. We got to go on course 1,2,3 and 4. My favorite course was number 3 and 4 because it was really fun and I love the Tarzan Swing on course 4. After all that we all went back to school. We all enjoyed Tree Adventures. Please come back to read the final part of EOTC week.
Week 7 Wave Pools
On Thursday all of the year 5's went to the Wave Pools. It was awsome! First thing we did when we got there was to jump into the pool. Well we didn't jump in the pool and that wasn't the first thing. The first thing was a boring talk, then finally we got to swim. After getting warmed up in the wave pool (the wave pool was freezing) we went on the hydro-slide. It was Nardly Dude. Anyways... oh yeah we had a break da,da,da,da, after the break we went into the warm spa. Oh lala it was soooo warm. I managed to put my face under the warm water IT BURNED MY FACE!!!! If you ever try it, well good luck. after swimming and sliding it was time to go back to school. When i got out of the pool I was soo freezing. Isn't it weird that if you stay in a cold pool and swim around you actually get warm. Anyways that wasn't the point here. Soo... we went back to school and yeah, we relaxed and that's defiantly it. So yeah. Thanks for reading all about EOTC. Make sure you come back and read more things that are updated.
